What is a remote temperature monitoring system?

A remote temperature monitoring system uses wireless sensors to measure temperature continuously and send readings to a cloud dashboard, instead of someone walking around with a thermometer and a clipboard. SPSense does this with the Nirix range of sensors: each device reports on a set interval, stores the full history, and raises an alert the moment a reading leaves the safe range you defined.

How accurate are SPSense temperature sensors?

Nirix-R uses the DS18B20 digital sensor with ±1°C accuracy, which covers fridges, freezers and cold rooms. Nirix-HM uses an RTD probe for a −70°C to +300°C range. Every device ships with NABL-certified calibration so the readings stand up in an audit.

Do I need Wi-Fi or a gateway to use SPSense?

Nirix-R and Nirix-HM join your existing 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network directly — there is no gateway, hub or wiring to install. Nirix-TR uses GSM cellular instead, so it works in vehicles and anywhere with mobile coverage without any Wi-Fi at all.

How long does the battery last?

Nirix-R runs for up to a month per charge on its 2000+ mAh battery, depending on the reporting interval you choose. Nirix-TR runs 15+ days of continuous cellular monitoring. All units recharge over a standard USB-C cable — no proprietary dock.

Does SPSense help with HACCP and FSSAI compliance?

Yes. SPSense keeps a continuous, tamper-resistant temperature record for every device and exports it as an audit-ready report. How often does the device report temperature?

You choose the reporting interval per device — 1, 5 or 10 minutes on Nirix-R. A shorter interval gives you finer detail and faster alerting, a longer one extends battery life. Nirix-TR monitors continuously for the duration of a trip.

What happens if the internet or power goes down?
